Measuring higher-order skills

The Harvard Skills Lab creates new, performance-based, scalable measurement tools for higher-order skills. We contribute to the basic science of human potential by defining and measuring concepts like teamwork, leadership and decision-making skills, with a focus on the changing demands of the labor market.

Are you a teamplayer?

Our foundational work, “Team Players: How Social Skills Improve Team Performance” describes a new method for measuring teamwork skill. Some people consistently cause their teams to be more than the sum of their parts. We call these individuals “team players.” We find that teamwork skills improve team performance about as much as IQ.
